Mission GBx3J Update #6 // Ab Workouts At Home

Hello, all! Hope you've had an amazing week!
This week I was able to go to the gym a lot more, which was awesome. I really needed some extra gym time. I also got to focus on abs a lot, which has been amazing! Abs are great! Do abs! Every day! And since I've learned more workouts for abs, I thought I'd share a few I'm loving right now.
So here are my top 5 ab workouts that you can do in your very own living room!

First: Russian Torso Twist
I don't know if thats really the name, but lets just roll with it. These are my very favorites and I do them every day. When sitting on your bum, tilt back so you can already feel your abs start to burn. If you can, raise your feet up (intertwining my feet like so helps me stay balanced) and twist from side to side. If you like, you may also incorporate a medicine ball or weight. Make sure you hit the floor with each turn so that you get the full effect.

Second: Plank
Okay, guys. Planks are amazing. They work everything. And there are so many variations! But for today, I just did the standard fore-arm hold. I usually do about 3 of these for 30-60 seconds per day. Do these by a mirror so you can make sure your body is level. You won't be getting the full effect if your bum is too high or your shoulders are too far back.

Third: Bicycle Crunches
Again, not sure if that's the real name. But, like most things on this blog, lets just roll with it.
These are great for working your sides, and I also start to feel my quads getting a workout after a while too. Like the torso twists, twist your body from side to side, aiming your elbows at your knees.

Forth: Ab... Circles...?
I'm not even going to pretend I know what these might be called. All I know is that it burns. Move your feet around in circle, keeping them low to the ground. You'll feel this mostly in your lower abdominals. After a few circles, switch direction.

Fifth: Ab Roller
Okay, so this one you may need to purchase or find at a gym. But let me tell ya, this gets results. I don't have one at home, so I had to steal a picture from the internet (thanks, google). Basically, you will place this in your hands and get in a table like position while on your knees. While engaging your abs for support, roll forwards (keeping your body level) as far as you can go, then roll back up to your starting position.

These are not all the ab workouts I do, but these are my current favourites & ones you can do practically anywhere (except a fancy dinner party). Let me know what you think!

Have an awesome week, everyone! Only a few left until Mission GBx3J ends! Make them count!

Mission GBx3J Update #3

What a great week!
I was extremely busy with a show and work, but somehow I managed to get in some gym time! And not only that, but I also feel like my eating habits are getting better! It's a slow process, but it's happening and that's what matters.
I am starting to notice changes in my body! Not to an extreme, but I can feel my biceps and quads firming and I'm definitely noticing some slight definition in my abs! What!

This week's update wasn't too exciting, and I apologize. I've had lots going on so I haven't had a lot of time to try anything new. This next week is going to get a little slower, so I'm definitely going to fit in some beach runs and look up new workouts! Let me know if you've seen anything I should try!
Thanks for reading!

Heres a little motivation for this next week. (;

**I'm going to try to make a master post of my favourite "mat workouts" with pictures and all! So stay tuned!

Mission GBx3J Update #2

I'll be honest with y'all.
The week started great... but I only went to the gym maybe 4 days out of the 7?
And I completely forgot that I was supposed to be eating well during the middle of the week... whoops.
However, I am currently choreographing a musical, so I'm not just sitting around all day!

But hey! I did go to the gym & I've been eating lots of fruit in the morning, which is making a big impact on my day. So, this is a new week coming & it'll be better!

Sorry this post is so short this week. I'll have lots going on next week, so stay tuned!

Side note: you may have noticed that I deleted my "Daily Intake" page. I just wasn't keeping up with it and it was slightly annoying. But during my GBx3J mission, I'm eating either fruits or Cheerios in the morning, I tend to either eat a homed sandwich or something similar if I go out, and then for dinner I tend to balance it all out with fruits, vegetables, and some form of carbs.

Mission GBx3J Update #1

This week has been awesome! I've definitely had to take my own lesson of sacrificing to heart. I received the weirdest hours of work this week, which required me to either take up very early to go to the gym or go right after work when I was exhausted. One or two days I did skip the gym, but I made sure I got outside by either jogging with my dog or walking around outside during my breaks at work.

Food wise, this week has been great. I'm starting to replace sugar cereals with fruit salad in the morning. I've found it doesn't fill me up as much as say a bowl of oatmeal, but it does leave me feeling fresh throughout the day. I've learned that I'm less of a 3-meals-a-day person and more of a snacker, which has its pros and cons. It's annoying because I feel "full" within a few bits of a meal, but then an hour later I need to eat again. But other than that, I've found that I feel "lighter" throughout the day by not eating 3 huge meals. My goal this next week is to make sure that all of my in-between snacks are 100% good fuel for my body.
How has your week been? Are you trying the Mission GBx3J with me? You can always hop on the train, no matter how far in we are! Better now than never!

Mission "GBx3J"

So for those who don't follow me on twitter (follow me!), I mentioned that I'll be spending my 20th birthday in Vegas! What?! 20?! Crazy.
Anyway, Vegas means dressing up, shopping, shows, and yes, pool days.
And pool days means swim suits.
So I'm going to take these next few months and make them MINE.
I'm on the mission to get my absolute best body before July!

I'm really excited about this project. I've always been good about going to the gym, but now that I have a job, it's gotten harder! But like I've mentioned in previous posts, sacrifice is so important and so worth it. Also, my biggest weakness when it comes to becoming healthy is my intake. I would so much rather go purchase a smoothie than make one myself. Its so much less work! I'm hoping that I scan really stick with this plan these next few months & learn to love cooking for myself!

Sound fun? DO IT WITH ME! Promise yourself to work extra hard just until July! Who knows! You could love the lifestyle & stick with it for long past July!
I'm making this post public so that I am held accountable for it!

Mission "Get Bangin' Bod Before July" (aka GBx3J) IS A GO!

(If you haven't noticed, I've added an "Ask me questions!" page to my blog! There you can find a link to an ask.fm page where you can ask me question on or off anonymous. I'd be happy to answer any questions you may have!)
