As I was casually squatting today at the gym, I realized I really liked my shirt. I liked how it made me feel, and that in itself motivated me to workout even more. So that moment is when I decided to make a blog post about fitness clothes.
What I Wear
Tops: I love racer backs. These are the tank tops that show off more of your shoulders in the back. This style gives awesome movement and you don't need to worry too much about pit stains (major plus for me)! I'm currently loving my Under Armor brand racer back.
Pants: one word- yoga. I mean, lets get real. 90% of the time, I'm not working out in them, but when I do, I feel great. I'm not too fond of my legs enough to wear cute, little shorts, but these flatter me pretty well. I love my Nike Dri-Fit cropped yoga pants, but the Victoria's Secret "Pink" yoga pants are great as well! It just depends on which thickness you prefer!
Shoes: Nike frees! I know that there are lots of different models of the "Frees" now a days, but mine are just over a year old, so I believe they're just called "Nike Frees." These shoes are sooo lightweight, which is awesome for someone like me who works out mostly in a gym. If you're looking into trail running or hiking, you might want something a little sturdier.
Socks: I'll always be a fan of the low-cut Nike socks, but Lulu Lemon has some amazing socks. Now, you might be tinkling, "Hannah, it's just socks. I'm not going to spend that much money on socks!" If you are a serious runner, get these. They're thick enough to feel like you're walking on a pillow, but they won't bulk up your shoes or suffocate your feet. They're great!
Here are some points to think about when shopping for fitness clothes:
1. Does it flatter me?
I love racer backs not only for the points mentioned above, but also because they show off my favourite feature of myself- my shoulders. I love showing people my progress!
2. Does it motivate me?
I always wear shirts that show off my biceps on arm days. I love seeing what is changing/has changed.
3. Do I feel good?
Buying fitness clothes should be a good experience. If you're buying clothes from H&M, Target, or Athleta, wear something that you love! It doesn't have to be name brand either; You're only going to sweat in it! However, I find that splurging on cute workout outfits every now & then is a great motivator. Find something that makes you think "Hey ya'll! Look at me! I'm feelin' great and I look great too!" when you walk into the gym.
I hope you enjoyed this blog post today! I'm thinking about making it maybe a monthly segment, along with a "What I'm Listening To" segment, which will be appearing soon! Stay tuned!
